V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) lets your EV power your home during outages or peak tariff hours. V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) additionally allows excess energy to be sold back to the grid during demand response events for revenue. Both require compatible vehicles and chargers.
Savings vary based on battery size (typically 40–100 kWh), daily usage, solar integration, and your electricity tariff. Families commonly save £800–£1,600 annually. Our V2H Savings Estimator provides a personalised figure based on your setup.
Not all EVs support V2H yet. Compatible vehicles include Nissan Leaf (all recent generations), Hyundai Ioniq 5, Kia EV6, Kia Niro EV, and emerging models. We confirm vehicle compatibility during your consultation.
You'll need: a bidirectional AC charger (compatible with your EV), energy management system, compatible EV, and potential electrical upgrades to your switchboard. Response supplies, installs, and configures all necessary equipment.
Solar panels generate energy during the day, charging your EV battery at minimal cost. At night or during peak tariff hours, your EV battery discharges to power your home. This maximises use of your own renewable energy and minimises grid usage during expensive hours.
